Ahoy, Matey!

First trip in the books! We stayed at Anchors Aweigh RV Resort in Foley. This was a much needed vacation. Both Sam and I have worked straight through COVID. No off days, homeschooling the kiddos all while selling the house and getting things set up for camper life. We were struggling y’all.

The beach was amazing!!!! Nicholas experienced his first encounter with a jelly fish, and Scarlett begged to bring home ALL the hermit crabs. They’re both very social so finding friends to play with was not hard for them. We decided to take them charter fishing yesterday. We caught a total of 15 fish. Mostly King Mackerel. Watching the kids reel those guys in was so much fun. The water was a bit rough, but I think it made the experience much more enjoyable. While we there we had an opportunity to spend with family and cooked our very first meal in the camper. That was an adjustment to say the least, but we made it work. I do miss my prep/counter space.

We’re heading back to our permanent camping site now, so y’all pray traffic is easy on us and the bathroom breaks are minimal. Happy Labor Day and safe travels for all who are trekking back home, wherever that may be.

First Trip: Amos and Big Mama

Good Morning! We’re locked and loaded (literally), heading to THE BEACH!!!! Ya’ll, camper life is not for the faint of heart. We were up at 5:30 this morning getting things situated, packed up, and still deciding what to keep and what to send to goodwill or storage. Downsizing from almost 3,000 square feet to under 500 has definitely been a challenge. Also, I’ve just learned I have hoarding tendencies… Seriously though, I brought all 9 house plants with me! Like, who flippin’ needs 9 house plants in a 445 square foot 5th wheel??? Me, that’s who. The crazy plant lady.

We closed on the house yesterday. Everything went great. Copper, the kitty cat settled in with Mrs. Fran, our neighbor. We were able to spend a little bit of time with them both before leaving. Honey and Thor went to their new home yesterday as well with Ms. Tammy. Huge shout out to Mercy, our realtor for putting up with us the last 10 + years. Thank you to everyone who has helped us and prayed for us and this transition. We appreciate you more than you know.

All 4 of us have settled in well to camper life. It was a tad stressful yesterday trying to get everything done, but we made it out alive. The kiddos have adjusted just like they always do. Always ready for an adventure. We decided the truck and camper needed names, so Amos and Big Mama is what the kids came up with. Extra points if you can name the movie it came from. Just passed Clanton, still have a few hours until we reach the salty sea water and that amazing gulf breeze. This mama is tired y’all, I’m taking a nap! Stay tuned..

Our Journey Begins

Hi! First, I would like to introduce my self. My name is Janine McNair. I’m a wife to Sam, mom to Nicholas and Scarlett, work for a family medical clinic, nursery director for our church, and missionary established through the COG.

The purpose of this blog is to notify our friends and family of our adventures, and to one day later on down the road, look back on all that we have experienced. We’re excited to announce that in the upcoming future although we do not have a specific date, our family will be traveling to the Philippines to live. Since COVID has taken place, we do not expect to be able to travel until 2021. Until then, I’ll be blogging my little heart out about short term missions here in the US, and living in a 5th wheel camper, which I’ll be writing about this week. Lots of juicy details to come! Stay tuned…
